Join us at a Promise Forum!

Next week there will be two chances for people to share a meal and their views on what it will take for us, as a community, to move from dreaming to doing as we work toward helping all our children and youth tap into their full promise.  Please join us either Thursday, July 21, 5:30 – 9 p.m. OR Saturday, July 23, 8:30 – 12 noon.  Childcare will be available.  For more information, click here.  To sign up, please email lrpromise@gmail.com or call 683-7089.

Geoffrey Canada speaking in Little Rock

On Thursday, August 11, Geoffrey Canada, the President and CEO of the Harlem Children’s Zone , will deliver the keynote address of the “Saving the World – One Child at a Time” Conference.  You must register for the conference to attend his speech.  For more information about registration, click here.  The CLRPN would like to be as visible as we can at this conference so, if you do plan to attend, we ask that you consider wearing a CLRPN “I am a part of the promise” T-shirt.  If you do not have a shirt and would like one, please just let us know at lrpromise@gmail.com!

Promise Currents >>>

The U.S. Department of Education just released the application for the next round of Promise Neighborhood Program funding.  The implementation grants are due by September 6.  The CLRPN will plan to apply but, no matter what, remains committed to moving our Promise Neighborhood work forward into the implementation phase this fall.

The Data Team continues to focus on its behind-the-scenes work completing the formal Needs Assessment of our area and building the type of data management system that will allow us to use data more effectively to impact change in our neighborhood.

The Solutions Team is translating all the subgroups’ “starting points” recommendations into a more defined, overall design for a cradle to career pipeline.  Their next meeting is July 19.

The Sustainability Teamis planning and holding the Promise Forums next week.  Information and ideas shared by community members at the forums will be used immediately to help us write part of the implementation grant and transition more effectively from planning to implementation.  Please join us if you can!
